88 Years of Citrus

WE ARE UNIQUE, AND SIMPLY GROW THE BEST NAVELS IN THE WORLD.

The year 2020 markED the 88th anniversary of Leo and Bess Sinkey planting their first navel tree on our ranch.  Our first trees were planted in 1931.  Oroville is the home of Papa Citrus and also California’s first citrus tree planted in 1856,“The Mother Orange Tree.”   A protected historical landmark of California, she has endured freezes, fires, and flooding.  (Look her up)

Our Northern California region (Butte County) was once a thriving citrus colony in the late 1890’s and early 1900’s.  At one time more than 3,300 acres of navel oranges cover the Butte Valley.  A severe 1932 freeze wiped out most of everything in Butte County.

Our Grove survived.  Rebranded Papa Citrus in 2017 our orchard is the  oldest and last heirloom navel ranch in Northern California, possibly in all of California.  We are unique, rare and simply grow the best navels in the world.

We are tucked in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains.  The Papa Family lives on the citrus ranch.  We see and care for it daily.  We are small town people & farm because we love it.  We love our ranches history, our fruit, trees, and we especially love our customers.

We use quality farming methods. We do not harvest early, nor use gases to ripen our fruit, or store citrus in cold storage for weeks, we grow tree ripened navels. We stand by our word and guarantee to provide quality.  Our brand is our bond and our name is on the box.  We love Northern California, and love growing locally for our people.

WE ARE UNIQUE AND SIMPLY GROW THE BEST NAVELS IN THE WORLD.
